The 12th biennial L.M. Montgomery Institute's International Conference, L.M. Montgomery and Gender, will take place June 23-26, 2016 on the campus of the University of Prince Edward Island. This event will re-consider the role of gender in L.M. Montgomery’s work, broadly defined: her fiction, poetry, life writing, letters, photographs, and scrapbooks, as well as the myriad adaptations and spinoffs in film, television, theatre, tourism, and social media.
With an exciting line-up of keynote speakers, including distinguished scholar Mavis Reimer, editor of Such A Simple Little Tale: Critical Responses to L.M. Montgomery's Anne of Green Gables, Montgomery scholar and former UPEI president, Elizabeth Epperly, (Through Lover’s Lane and The Fragrance of Sweet Grass), and Jane Urquhart, internationally-acclaimed author of Away and The Underpainter, this conference promises to foster research excellence and innovative directions in Montgomery scholarship from around the world.
