Pre-Conference Workshop A: Story, Identity, Cultural Memory: Oral Storytelling in the Literature Classroom
Chances are that you enjoy the written stories of L.M. Montgomery. But what about the told tales that inform literature, cultural tradition, families, and our daily lives? From fairy tales to folktales to “a funny thing happened on the way to work today…,” this workshop explores the importance of oral storytelling in literature generally, the literature of L.M. Montgomery specifically, and in contemporary life. While placing emphasis on teaching approaches, offering specific strategies for teaching literature’s intersection with oral storytelling, this workshop welcomes anyone who is interested in a good story. We’ll see you in the land of “once upon a time’!
-- Dr. Trinna S. Frever, Palm Beach State College, FL.
Workshop will be held 1pm - 3pm, Wednesday, June 20, at the Faculty Lounge, Main Building, University of Prince Edward Island
