In 2018 Anne of Green Gables will turn 110 years old and the LMMI will celebrate its 25thbirthday and hold the 13th Annual Biennial Conference, L.M. Montgomery and Reading. This is the perfect time to revisit Montgomery’s classic novel in a read-a-long. Every Tuesday from now until the conference in June, readers will bring us their insights into the chapter of the week.
The first entry, “Chapter I: Mrs. Rachel Lynde is Surprised,” is by Liz Rosenberg. Rosenberg is the bestselling author of novels, poetry and children's books. Her new biography about L.M. Montgomery, HOUSE OF DREAMS, will be releasing this June from Candlewick Press.

The LMMI sends its condolences to the family of Roderick J. Macdonald, who passed away over the weekend. Roderick was the son of Ruth and Stuart Macdonald and L.M. Montgomery's grandson. The funeral details are below:
The LMMI was deeply saddened to hear about the death of L.M. Montgomery's grandson, David Cameron Macdonald. David was a longtime supporter of the Institute. In April 2002, he and his sister Catherine donated 18 books that belonged to their father, Chester Cameron Macdonald, which is now part of the Macdonald Collection.

The LMMI is honoured to have this exclusive post by our longtime member and founder of the institute, Dr. Elizabeth Rollins Epperly, who discusses three reasons why she decided to write and publish her memoir, Power Notes: Leadership By Analogy. Epperly was the fourth president of UPEI and was the first student to register at the newly amalgamated UPEI in 1969. A native of Virginia, she came to Canada because of her love for L.M. Montgomery's writing. She is a scholar, curator, and author. Some of her books include, The Fragrance of Sweet-Grass: L.M. Montgomery's Heroine's and the Pursuit of Romance (2014), Imagining Anne: The Island Scrapbooks of L.M. Montgomery (2008), and Through Lover's Lane: L.M.
