Many of you will have noticed that the LMMI website has been given a facelift. This is just one of many enhancements we will be making to the LMM Institute over the coming months, so we hope you will bear with us as we move forward.
Montgomery's Birthday Celebration as Fun as it was Informative
Wednesday, June 27, 2007 - 16:38
Students from six different elementary school classes gathered at Green Gables November 28th, 29th, and 30th to celebrate L.M. Montgomery's birthday. Montgomery was born November 30th, 1874 in New London (formerly known as Clifton), PEI. Students participated in a tour of the site, as well as a creative activity inside. We would like to thank the Green Gables staff for their incredible work during these very busy days!

In 1975 the BBC aired their film adaptation of Anne of Avonlea starring Kim Braden as Anne Shirley and Barbara Hamilton as Marilla Cuthbert. This version had been considered lost until recently. We have just learned that this long lost film is going to be released on DVD on September 5! We'd like to thank Benjamin Lefebvre for the good news. The DVD is available from AMAZON.
The new Anne for the upcoming production of Anne and Gilbert has been selected! From July 15th-September 5th at the Harbourfront Jubilee Theatre, Islander Rebecca Parent will take the stage as the imaginative Anne Shirley.
Every year the L.M. Montgomery Institute awards a $1,000 scholarship to an island student entering their first year of the Faculty of Arts at UPEI and planning to major in English. Established by the owners of Cavendish Figurines Ltd., this scholarship is named after the fictional Avery Scholarship in Anne of Green Gables. Anne, with much hard work and determination, wins the coveted scholarship, which opens up new educational possibilities. The recipient of the real scholarship will be chosen in the basis of an essay in response to ONE of three questions.
